Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif landed in Riyadh on Wednesday on an official visit to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The two countries have long shared a multifaceted relationship rooted in mutual economic interests, strategic military cooperation, and shared Islamic heritage. These ties have encompassed economic assistance and energy supplies, with Riyadh being a significant source of financial aid and oil for Islamabad.

Upon his arrival, the PM was received by Riyadh Deputy Governor Muhammad bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, according to a post on X by PTV News.

Punjab government is continuing rescue and relief operations in flood-affected areas of Jalalpur Pur Pirwala where several villages have been inundated in water after flood in Chenab river.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif virtually monitored the evacuation of affected population.

In a statement, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that PDMA, Rescue 1122 and Multan district administration are actively working in Jalalpur Pirwala to cope with the situation.

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that his government has started the reconstruction of 2.1 million houses to rehabilitate more than 12.6 million flood-affected people, which exceeds the population of 154 countries.

“We are also supporting water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions. A funding of Rs39 billion has been secured to connect 264,250 houses with safe sanitation facilities.”

This he said while talking to journalists after reviewing the progress of reconstruction of the houses at the Sindh Peoples Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF) office on Tipu Sultan Road on Thursday.

Provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon, Nasir Shah, Makhdoom Mahbood and DG SPHF Khalid Shaikh were present on the occasion.
